'Purple Dome' is a native cultivar of New England Aster from the Mt. Cuba Collection, plants selected for their exceptional ornamental benefits.  'Purple Dome' is a shorter, rounded versioin of the straight species and a beautiful addition to a small garden.

Some of the plants in the Collection also have high pollinator values.  I have not seen pollinators on this one, probably because of the semi-double blooms.

This is a popular, and beautiful, plant that in form resembles Mums.  If you love this plant, go for it!  But maybe surround it with straight-species natives with Very High pollinator values.
