'Purple Dome' is a native cultivar of New England Aster from the Mt. Cuba Collection, plants found growing in the wild but with features that distinguish them from the masses.

'Purple Dome' is shorter and more dome-like than New England Aster and is a beautiful addition to a small garden.

Since 'Purple Dome' was selected by nature, pollinator value should be similar to the straight species, although this cultivar has semi-double blooms, which may interfere with pollinators' access to nectar.
