Here's a sweet little plant with large purplish-pink flower heads that nod downward on maybe 12-inch stalks.

Nodding Onion has tiny and bell-shaped blooms, usually pinkish but sometimes white, on leafless stalks.

All parts of the plant smell onion-y, and indeed Nodding Onion once was used in cooking or eaten raw.

Nodding Onion attracts butterflies and makes a great addition to a native plant garden.  It's not terribly aggressive and can be dead-headed to prevent unwanted seed spread.
